COVID-19 – tweet

As we were saying in the Twitter message…

As a new nonprofit organization we are anxious to start our endeavour to go out and help those in need however until this new Coronavirus virus called COVID-19 has been contained we have been putting things on hold and have been trying to get our Governments to realize that just saying to “be careful” or “stay at home if you’re sick” etc…

Actions speak louder than words which you can obviously see in this video that I saw on the Weather Network. Click here for video.

As you will see people are in Toronto were completely ignoring the rules about Social Distancing.

In our opinion, this will continue to happen in all across our Country and if you look at the Stats on the website, you will see that Ontario and Quebec are the 2 biggest provinces that have the most COVID-19 cases and the amounts increase daily. Click the link –> (COVID-19 daily updates)

Our organization is based out of Ottawa, Ontario and while this video is from Toronto, this stuff could as well happen in Ottawa as well since there are no security measures besides the “words” of our Governments which tell us to remain indoors if we show any of the COVID-19 symptoms which if you take the “Self Assessment Test” it says that if you show that if you have “ANY” and I literally mean ANY of the symptoms like:

  • Fever or chills
  • Cough
  • Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing
  • Fatigue
  • Muscle or body aches
  • Headaches
  • New loss of taste or smell
  • Sore throat
  • Congestion or runny nose
  • Nausea and/or vomiting
  • Diarrhea

The CDC website where I got these symptoms also says that “This list does not include all possible symptoms. CDC will continue to update this list as they learn more about COVID-19” You can see this link for yourself by going to this link by Click here to see it directly from the CDC website. However, if you go and take the Self Assessment test and select ANY of the symptoms, it tells you to self-isolate for 14 days.

In our opinion, we don’t think that this is happening and we don’t think that they are testing everyone who goes to the hospital that shows “symptoms” unless they are absolutely severe and we think that there might be many cases of COVID-19 that might be overlooked.

We have already contacted all 3 of our Governments, Federal, Provincial and Municipal as well as have CC’d all of the Mayor of Ottawa’s City Councillors but have not heard back to tell them that in our opinion that we think they are handling this situation the wrong way.

We are all anxious about opening things back up and going back to work but in our opinion, we feel that just saying that we are under a “State of Emergency” having groups of no more than 5 etc… is not enough. We think that Cities should go into lockdown mode and force people to remain indoors and that police and perhaps the military should be brought in and Cities should be told to stay indoors and ONLY “Essential Services” should be permitted to go outside when needed.

There should be check-points enforced by Law officials and/or the Military and force people to ask them where they are going. If they are not an essential service, they should be heavily fined or thrown into prison and/or both.

As for Grocery stores. Some of the grocery stores that our executive director has been to has noticed that while they have good policies to try and keep the customers healthy such as making sure all the carts are sanitized and they put arrows on the floor so that their customers only go in one direction, however that is where it STOPS making sense.

Social Distancing in a grocery store is IMPOSSIBLE. I mean if you actually think about it. How are people supposed to keep 6′ (2 meters) apart in a grocery aisle? Our director said that most people don’t even follow the directions of the arrows, plus in order to keep “2 meters” apart in the aisles while people like to stand still in the aisles looking for the best prices. Meanwhile, as that is happening, there is a lineup of people who are technically keeping “2 meters” apart. That is not happening. People are not social distancing in Grocery Stores.

I think that it should be mandatory for All Grocery stores offer deliveries to their clients until this crisis is over without any waiting list.

In our opinion, if you think about and I’m not saying that we should be more like China, but they got rid of the first wave pretty quick as we are sure they will beat this second wave because of the way their Government however we feel that our Government needs to step up more than just “WORDS”

Something NEEDS to be done. Besides if you think about it if more of these “Gatherings” happen like happened in Toronto continue to happen and even one of these people got COVID-19 and with no Security Checkpoints in place anywhere, this pandemic will continue to spread like wildfire and this will NEVER STOP until a cure is found which who knows when that can be.
